Badgers defeated by Clarendon to end 2024 season
A game with four lead changes and three ties ended in the favor of the Bulldogs to end the season for both programs.
Clarendon plated a pair of runs in both the sixth and eighth innings to secure its lone win of the series by the score of 7-6.
In the bottom of the eighth frame, a Jan Avila triple and Benavidez RBI single cut AC's deficit to 7-5. Sydney Ward made it on base via an error in the following at bat, which was followed by De Hoyos grounder that scored Benavidez and advanced Ward to third base.
The Badgers were unable to bring home Ward to end the frame.
Payton Bush's single to begin the ninth inning put the tying run on base. He was thrown out on a stolen base attempt on a swinging strikeout in the next at-bat.
A fly out ended the game.
Five Badger pitchers (Gabe Watson, Colton Klemke, Carter Beard, Remington Spoerl, Evan Peterson) saw action to end AC's season. The group allowed nine hits, six walks, four earned runs, and struck out nine batters.
Klemke tallied his second-highest strikeout total (6) of the season in relief during the third, fourth, and fifth innings.
AC scratched out a series-best 14 hits during the loss. Watkins and Bush paced the Badgers with three hits each.
Chris Benavidez and Aidan Young each had two hits.
