Badgers conclude non-conference play on Feb. 28 at Hodgetown vs. Vernon College
The Amarillo College baseball team claimed its first series victory of the season last weekend at Hodgetown.
The Badgers will hope continue their recent home success tomorrow against Vernon College.
A doubleheader between the Badgers and Chaps is scheduled to begin at noon. Game three is scheduled for seven innings, followed by a nine-inning series finale at Hodgetown.
The twin bill marks the final non-conference regular-season matchup for AC.
The Chaps opened the series on Thursday at home with a 9-7 victory. AC gained a brief 7-5 lead via Brooks Carter’s first homer of the season before VC completed the comeback with three runs in the fifth frame and four in the sixth.
The Chaps bats stayed hot in game two, as Vernon gained a 7-0 lead by the end of the first inning of game two. AC narrowed its deficit 8-6 through 3 ½ innings.
Game 2 was suspended after the seventh inning due to the lack of lighting at Vernon’s baseball facility. The contest will resume at noon on Saturday, with the Chaps leading 15-9.
The series will be streamed live on the Texas Panhandle Sports Network.
