Brooks Carter homer celebration vs. Frank Phillips.

Virginia Tech lands AC baseball star Brooks Carter

Shallowater native Brooks Carter made a habit of making history in a Badger uniform over the past two years.

The all-conference honoree added another notch to his illustrious AC resume, becoming the first Badger from the Texas Panhandle to commit to a Power Four school.

On Wednesday, Carter announced his commitment to the Virginia Tech baseball program on social media.

“Thank you Lord and to everyone who has helped me on this journey,” he said.

Carter set five program records by the time his final game at AC ended earlier this month and was subsequently named to the All-WJCAC Second Team as a designated hitter.

The Badgers’ three-hole hitter in 2026 set the team record for career hits (143), career RBIs (113), career multi-hit games (48), season batting average (.424), and career batting average (.424).

In addition, Carter departs AC with 10 top-five all-time marks in the Badger baseball record book.

During his time with the Badgers, he proved to be the most consistent hitter in program history. Carter is the only player since AC’s athletics reboot to record 65-plus hits, a batting average over .400, and a slugging percentage over .675 in back-to-back seasons.

Carter’s commitment to the Hokies marks the first pledge by a Badger to a school in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The catcher joins Gerardo Prado (University of Oklahoma, 2025), Jan Avila (Rutgers University, 2024), and Gabe Watson (Purdue University, 2024) as AC Power Four commits over the past four years.
