Badger XC teams place third at John McKenzie Invite

Adrian Rosales set a personal-record 5K time by nearly a minute in her his first race in an AC uniform.

The performance by the freshman in Fort Worth last Friday highlighted the Badgers’ season-opening race.

Both the AC men’s team and women’s team placed third at the John McKenzie Invitational – hosted by Texas Christian University.

Rosales shaved 48 seconds off his personal-best time at Booker High School, finishing the race in 16 minutes 7 seconds. The time earned him a 16th place finish in a field of 46 runners.

Sophomore Lane Kenney, placed 18th (16:21) and Canyon native Aaryan Katwal-Shaver took 24th (17:10) in his Badger debut.

Brian Corona and Dayson Smith placed 26th and 27th respectively.

The AC women’s 5K and half marathon record holder, Mia Lujan, paced the Lady Badgers with a 24th place finish in a field of 40 runners. Lujan clocked a 3.1-mile time of 20 minutes 33 seconds.

Fellow returning sophomore Mallory Moore crossed the finish line 6 seconds after Lujan to take 25th.

Freshman Ellianna Rohm (26th place), Lylianah Flores (27th), and Danna Arriaga (28th) rounded out the team’s top five placers.

The AC cross country heads to Lawton, Oklahoma this week to compete in the Aggie Duels -- hosted by Cameron University – on Friday, Sept. 5.
